About The Trio

The Joyce DiCamillo Trio has brought its versatile musical talents to clubs, concert stages and educational institutions for over twenty years. With its jazz interpretations, the trio encompasses a wide spectrum of American music. From concert to jazz club, the trio has captured the enthusiasm of its audiences. The trio’s first CD, A Touch of Jazz (AnstuRecords) was hailed as “classy and creative” by Jazz Times magazine. The trio’s second CD, Freelancin’, (Seaside Records), features Houston Person on tenor saxophone – “a shared and unpretentious exuberance”(Cadence). Third CD Moment to Moment (Seaside Records) elicited “tantalizing interplay, sensitive employment of dynamics and swinging solos” (Green Mountain Jazz Messenger). The trio’s fourth CD, Love Letters (InPulse) was voted 13th of WGMC’s (Rochester, NY) Top 100 Jazz CDs. The most recent release is the trio’s fifth CD, Sunrise Lady (InPulse).

The trio has perfomed at such legendary New York clubs as the Blue Note, Village Gate, Freddy’s, Birdland, Struggles, and Tavern on the Green. The group has been joined by guest artists James Moody, Phil Woods, Nick Brignola, Houston Person, Arnie Lawrence, Gerry Niewood, Andy Fusco, Steve Marcus, Marvin Stamm, Bob Mintzer, and Marlene verPlanck. They have appeared as opening act for Dizzy Gillespie, Nancy Wilson, Roberta Flack, Diane Schuur, Jon Faddis, John Pizzarelli, and the Count Basie Orchestra; and shared billing with such artists as Billy Taylor, Ivan Lins, Jimmy McGriff, Joe Williams, Betty Carter, Lionel Hampton, Gerry Mulligan, and Claudio Roditi. 

In concert appearances include the Andria (Italy) Jazz Festival, Guinness Jazz Festival, (Cork, Ireland), Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center, The Jazz Cruise, Litchfield Jazz Festival, Jackie Robinson Foundation An Afternoon of Jazz, Syracuse Jazzfest, Sunnyside Jazz Festival, Torrington Jazz Festival, Norwich Jazz Festival, Peconic Jazz Festival, Jazz…by the Sea, Whitney Museum, Steinway Hall, Hilton Head Jazz Society, and many more. The trio has been featured in an hour broadcast on Mass. cable TV.

The trio presents rhythm section master classes throughout the country, performing and/or lecturing at numerous schools including: Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Brown University, M.I.T., William Paterson College, Ithaca College, Syracuse University, Hamilton College, Rowan College, Florida International University, Florida Atlantic University, University of Northern Illinois, Chicago State University, Vandercook College, Roosevelt University, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, New World School of the Arts (Miami, Fl) and at numerous secondary schools.
